Season 1 of So You Think You Can Dance premiered on July 20, 2005. Nick Lazzarini was crowned America's Favorite Dancer (and first), with Melody Lacayanga as runner-up.
Production[]
Season 1 was hosted by news anchor Lauren Sánchez. She left the show after one season. There was no Vegas Week but instead a Hollywood Week. All dancers that impressed the judges during their auditions were sent to choreography instead of being given a ticket straight to Hollywood. Season 1 had a Top 16 instead of a Top 20 in the Finals.
